Bernard V. Krall

1928 - 2026

Bernard Krall, 97, of Santa Maria, peacefully passed away and was called home on July 15, 2026.

Bernard was born on August 20, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to John and Anastasia Krall.

He was raised and educated in Iowa until the age of 16, when he joined the Merchant Marines.

He later enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated many years of honorable service

and ultimately achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.

While stationed in Simbach, Germany, Bernard met the love of his life, Brunhilde.

Together they traveled the world during his Air Force career and welcomed four children.

In 1973, they settled at Vandenberg Air Force Base and purchased their forever home in Santa Maria,

where they built a lifetime of memories.

After retiring from the Air Force, Bernard and Brunhilde opened Krall Antiques in Los Alamos.

Together they owned and operated the shop for 31 years,

meeting countless wonderful people along the way, including many well-known public figures.

After retiring once again, Bernard found joy in life’s simple pleasures.

He loved tending to his garden, spending time with his family and grandchildren,

and being surrounded by those he loved most. He especially looked forward to holidays and family gatherings, where his kindness, stories, and steady presence brought everyone together.

Bernard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country, his devotion to his wife and family, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him.

His legacy of service, love, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Bernard is survived by his son, Robert, and his wife, Rosalind; his son, Peter, and his wife, Jennifer;

his daughters, Patty and Mary; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren,

with one more great-grandchild on the way.

Bernard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brunhilde Krall, and his parents, John and Anastasia Krall.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026 in the Chapel of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home, interment will follow in the Santa Maria Cemetery, South Lawn.
