Gary Joseph Lister, 59, passed away peacefully at Arroyo Grande Hospital on April 21, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Gary was known for his quick wit, warm humor and remarkable gift for gab.
An avid fisherman and lifelong lover of the Central Coast, Gary could often be found riding his bike to the beach, which was his passion. He also enjoyed the thrill of the hunt at thrift stores and was quite lucky at finding treasures. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who worked at various construction sites and drove a truck for Kirk construction until the end.
Gary is survived by his sister, Kathy Lorencz , her husband, Dale and their daughter Katie - his favorite and only niece. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harry and Thelma Lister and Vern and Dorothy Simas, his parents Bill and Patty Lister, and his beloved nephew Kyle Lorencz.
Gary will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered at sea. The family will be having a private celebration of life. He leaves behind a long list of family and friends who will miss him dearly and keep his laughter alive.
