Joshua “Josh” Akemon, age 74, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026,
surrounded by his loving daughters by his side.
Josh was born in 1952 to Bill and Lorraine Akemon in Detroit Michigan. He moved to Ohio, where he attended high school. After graduation, he served his County in the United States Air Force for 6 years. After the Air Force, he moved to Santa Maria, California to raise his two beautiful daughters on the Central Coast. He worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base (Space Force Base) for 47 years in analytics, where his expertise and reliability earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues.
Josh was a truly exceptional father, who enjoyed cooking, shopping at Costco, and organizing his recipes and movies. He was a fanatic about lists, always having a pen and notepad in his pocket.
He is survived by beloved daughters, Lisa Meyer and Lori Speer and his brothers, Roger and Billy Akemon. He was a proud grandfather to Samantha and Josh Meyer and Allyson and Aubrey Speer
and an adoring great-grandfather to Addison and Arriana Meyer.
His warmth, guidance and the unwavering love he showed his family
will be forever cherished by everyone he leaves behind.
