JUDITH "JUDI" MACIAS

1948 - 2026
Judi Macias, age 78, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on May 16, 2026. Judi was the oldest of two children of Charles “Chuck” and Maxine (Gerkin) Raymond, born January 22, 1948, in Howell, Michigan. While growing up in Howell, Judi’s family owned and operated a local bar named “Raymond's Tavern”. In high school Judi participated in diving and played clarinet in the school band. Judi also played the accordion and participated in tap dance. Judi graduated from Howell High School in 1966. After high school, Judi attended Eastern Michigan University. After her father's unexpected death, her mother Maxine and brother John loaded up their red Chrysler convertible and headed west. The family settled in Santa Maria in 1968. Judi joined the family in Santa Maria a year later. Judi worked and retired from the County of Santa Barbara where she worked primarily in the agriculture department for over 30 years.
Judi had two 2 daughters from her first marriage, Lori in 1970 and Johna in 1974. In 2009, Judi married her longtime boyfriend and the love of her life, Robert Macias.
In retirement Judi and Bob would travel in their RV all over the country, as well as camping locally at Lopez and Cachuma lakes. Judi and Bob enjoyed training their bull terriers Homer and Windy and competed in agility and nose competitions. Judi also enjoyed breeding birds and had a large collection of hummingbird collectables. Judi was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Judi loved spending time with her grandchildren and would often entertain all 5 grandchildren at her home at one time. Judi was loved by her family and will be deeply missed.
Judi is survived by her husband, Robert Macias, brother, John (Denise) Raymond, daughters Lori Lundien, Johna (Michael) Borges, stepchildren Chris (Christina) Macias, Cassandra (Brady) Cooke, Grandchildren, Matthew (Reyna) Lundien, Katie (Ray) Lundien, Kristi Lundien, Halen (Wyatt) Borges-Zeimis, Kyle (Coryn) Borges, and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
Judi was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marie, 1944, grandfather, William, 1958, Father, Charles, 1963 and Mother, Maxine, 2022.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for July 11th. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Judi’s name to St Jude children’s research hospital.
