WILLIAM SCOTT LAUER "BILL"
- 2026
William Scott Lauer, known to all as Bill, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 2, 2026.
Bill lived a full and adventurous life, marked by service, hard work, and a deep love for speed, the ocean, and family. A proud Air Force veteran, he traveled the world in service to his country, experiences that shaped his independence and love of exploration.
In his younger years, Bill surfed the waves of Pismo Beach during high school, embracing the California coast that would always feel like home. He later found another passion behind the wheel, racing cars at the Santa Maria Speedway, proudly driving car number 41—a number many locals came to recognize.
Bill was a dedicated businessman, owning and operating Santa Maria Muffler for many years, where he built lasting relationships within the community. He later continued his strong work ethic with Plains Pipeline, where he remained until retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife, Chandra; his daughters, Ashlyn Sutton (Andy Sutton) and Heather Dumouchel (Ryan Dumouchel); and his son, Bobby Adams. He was a proud grandfather to Zeplen and Bowie Dumouchel, who brought him great joy.
Bill is reunited in heaven with his parents, Richard and Lois Lauer, and his sister, Julie Allen. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Lauer.
