JAN LYNN PRIBYL (METCALF)

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JAN LYNN PRIBYL (METCALF)

1943 - 2026

Celebrating the beautiful life of Jan Lynn Pribyl (Metcalf), who left us on September 30, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Ohio on January 13, 1943, Jan moved to Glendale, California, as a young child with her parents. She later raised her own beautiful family in Saugus, California, before ultimately becoming a deeply cherished, long-time resident of Santa Maria. Throughout her journey, Jan lived a life defined by vibrant creativity, spirited adventure, and an unwavering, foundational love for her family.

Jan’s signature feature was her bright, friendly smile, her ability to remember all the important details of everyone she met, and her warm heart that made everyone feel instantly welcome. Alongside her husband of 61 years, James Pribyl, she embraced the open road, finding great joy in traveling and camping. When she wasn't exploring, Jan could be found immersed in her passion for quilting. As a skilled artisan and an enthusiastic member of the quilt guild, she was known for her stunning appliqued quilts, weaving love, patience, and vibrant artistry into every piece she created. Jan also had a vibrant, competitive heart and absolutely loved playing games, especially card games, bringing joy, laughter, and a bit of lively fun to every table she sat at. Her competitive spirit and love for family shone brightly during her sons' upbringing, where she dedicated her time as a PTA member, their Cub Scout den mother, and their constant sports scorekeeper, never missing a chance to cheer them on.

Jan was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her brothers.

Her legacy lives through her devoted husband, Jim; her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Michelle Pribyl, Tony Pribyl, and Tom and Jennifer Pribyl; and her cherished 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her memory is also carried on by her sister, Ann Malone;

and a loving circle of nieces and nephews and their children.

At her request, no public service will take place. To truly honor her joyful spirit, the family will celebrate her memory during their family gatherings. Together, they will share stories, carry on her love of games, and remember the enduring warmth she brought to their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jan’s honor to support local patient care at Mission Hope Cancer Center in Santa Maria.
